Let us be clear that we cannot fight poverty unless people have decent jobs. We can and must address the range of social problems that come from the insecurity of joblessness as immediate challenges but also commit ourselves to a world in which decent work is a norm not an exception.

La Alianza Española Contra la Pobreza reivindica medidas concretas para aumentar la cantidad y calidad de ayuda a los países empobrecidos, la cancelación de la deuda externa y nuevas normas comerciales que permitan a los países acabar con la injusticia, la inequidad y la discriminación.  Con esos objetivos, no podemos por menos que suscribir y apoyar el “Llamamiento a la acción. Trabajo decente para una vida decente”, lanzado por la CSI, el Foro Progresista Mundial, Social Alert Internacional, la CES y Solidar, y así lo acordamos en la última reunión de la Alianza.

Helen Kelly, National President - The New Zealand Council of Trade Unions joins in solidarity with other international unions to promote campaign and ensure decent work for workers the world over. Decent work for all workers is a right not a privilege. Decent work will improve the well-being of workers, their families, and communities and strengthens national economies.  The NZCTU strongly supports the three ITUC themes and commits to working with other global unions to achieving fair work rights for all; solidarity on a multilateral basis and to ending inequality and poverty. Achieving these goals provides for workers and our world’s best future. 

Banana Link supports the Decent Work, Decent Life campaign in solidarity with workers around the world.  The violation of basic labour rights cannot continue and we call on others to add their support to this campaign so that the right to Decent Work becomes a central consideration in both national and international policymaking.

Tout naturellement, la Ligue de l'Enseignement doit être présente dans ce combat pour la dignité humaine. Toutes les énergies dans les pays développés ou les pays moins avancés doivent être mises au service d'une telle cause pour que la mondialisation soit un phénomène au service des êtres humaines, solidaires entre eux.

 The European Youth Forum fully supports the Decent Work Decent Lige campaign, which raises issues of high relevance to young people. For young people in Europe it is absolutely essential that they have access to a fair income, social protection, security in the work place, as well as freedom to express their concerns and participate in decisions at work. These are the preconditions for a dignified life balancing work and private time.

Öz İplik-İş supports the Decent Work Decent Life Campaign in order to have decent working conditions and to stop all inequality, unemployment and poverty. La Confédération des Syndicats Chrétiens de Belgique reorésente 1,6 million de membres et s’inscrit à 100 % dans les objectifs de la campagne internationale "Travail Décent pour une Vie Décente". De plus, elle s'engage fortement dans la campagne belge, avec les ONG. La campagne belge part du principe que les intérêts des travailleurs occidentaux sont indissociablement liés à ceux des travailleurs du Tiers-Monde. Le Nord perd des emplois ; le Sud, vu la pauvreté locale, ne peut refuser le cadeau empoisonné d’emplois sous-payés et exercés dans de mauvaises conditions de travail. Ce genre d’ « emplois » ne fait qu’ancrer et renforcer la pauvreté régnante et le sous-développement du Sud. Afin de combattre cette spirale de la pauvreté mais surtout pour la prévenir, il faut un travail décent et des revenus équitables pour tous et toutes.

The Presidium of NSZZ, Solidarnosc: The National Commission supports the ITUC and ETUC global campaign “Decent Work – Decent Life”. We share the conviction that all people have the right to work in decent conditions and to receive proper remuneration that satisfies basic living needs of the workers and their families. This right can only be guaranteed if basic human rights, workers’ rights and trade union rights are respected, including the right to organise and to bargain collectively. This aim can also be achieved by expanding the social security system guaranteeing minimum income, decent pensions, insurance from unemployment, protection of maternity and quality health care for all.

FOCO: El trabajo decente es una condición necesaria para superar la pobreza y lograr el desarrollo sostenible. Con ese convencimiento, FOCO apoya y participa activamente de la campaña: “llamamiento mundial a la acción, trabajo decente para una vida decente” que Solidar, el Foro Progresista Mundial, Social Alert, la Confederación Sindical Internacional y la Confederación Europea de Sindicatos desarrollan a nivel mundial.

Rudolf Hundstorfer, president of ÖGB: Economic and social inequality and injustice are growing, because of historical legacies, but also due to profit-oriented, neo-liberal globalisation policies which lack humane responsibility. Albeit on different levels, social standards are affected both in the South as well as in the North. The Austrian Trade Union Federation therefore strongly supports the objectives of the Decent Work Decent Life Campaign.

Michele LeVoy, PICUM Director: Throughout Europe and in regions throughout the world, millions of undocumented workers work in different sectors of the economy, often in inhumane and dangerous conditions. PICUM joins this call to promote further visibility and recognition of the rights of all workers to decent and fair labour conditions, which are enshrined in the international human rights framework.

Kreplah, National Executive Director of CUPPADL: In these contemporary days where food crises, globalization, struggle for land and other social challenges are confronting the existence of man kind, labor force in Liberia is at the blunt of the injustices and inequalities as it relates to good working condition at the private and public sector levels of our society. It is against this background that we from the Citizen’s Unite to Promote Peace & Democracy in Liberia (CUPPADL) find it expedient to endorse the Decent work, Decent life campaign. We see the call to action as the best framework for international and national people center public policy lobby gear towards restoring the right of the world citizens to good jobs, decent work and decent life as a means of poverty eradication and end to inequality. We strongly believe, if policy makers nationally and internationally must act in prudence to eradicate poverty and end inequality civil society must be on its alert and champion this cause acting for the vest majority of the people who are the immediate victims.

Mejreme Shema, National Coordinator of Women network of Kosovo Trade union Federation-BSPK: Kosovo as a new state must demonstrate that it belongs to the European family of states by ensuring a decent life and decent work conditions in order to ensure proper economic development and prosperity for all its citizens.

Socialist Youth Austria, SJÖ: Fair and decents jobs form the basis for an effective fight against poverty, social injustice and inequality. They are an important precondition for a life in dignity – something, many young people all over Europe and the World are refused to lead. The support for this campaign is a small step towards changing this.
