Between October 7 and 8, 2008, the European Commission President Barroso and Vice-president Wallström signed the call to action for decent work.

UNITED NATIONS and GOVERNEMENTS

When the Call to Action was launched - 31 October 2007 - several political and institutional represantives expressed their support and signed the Call. Among others:

Mr. Sha Zukang (the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs);  Mr. José António Vieira da Silva (Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity, Portugal);Mr. Carlos Tomada (Minister of Labour, Argentina);  Mr. Carlos Lupi  (Minister of Labour, Brasil);  Mr.  Athauda Senaviratne (Minister of Labour Relations and Manpower, Sri Lanka);

 

During the Financing for Development Conference in Doha (Qatar, 29 November – 2 December 2008) -where the Decent Work Decent Life Campaign organised a debate on Financing for Decent Work -  President of UN General Assembly Mr. Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann signed the Call to Action for Decent Work.
